Is our education really making us ‘humane?’

Whereas the education is generally assessed through literary rates, number of schools, qualifications, publications and the ‘bright careers’, a frequently ignored side to this is that what is the crux of all this education and what sort of educated society do we envision? Are human values an important part of it and should it be a defining part among ‘educated people’? The answer should of course be 'yes' but are we really going in that direction?
